1. A planned walking tour was
organized by the department for M.A
2nd year students on 21/09/2019 in
the locality of Park Street to
familiarize students with the ethos
and architecture of the specific
location. This is envisioned as a
part of a series of city-walks that
the department hopes to conduct in
future in order to encourage
research in Urban studies and
literature and a prospective funded
project towards the same.
2. Students of M.A 2nd Year were taken to attend a seminar on “200 Years of Keat's Great Odes" on 13/09/2019. It was done in view of the fact that Keats is a part of their current reading and thus the seminar would acquaint them with various scholarship on the subject.
3. The Department of in collaboration with other departments of the School of Arts and Social Studies and IQAC organized a seminar and panel discussion on 23/09/2019 on Bridging the Gap: Gender Issues in Contemporary India.
In collaboration with the Centre for Excellence in Research and Innovation, the 1st Research Symposium cum Doctoral Colloquium 2019 was held on 30. 09. 19. New English PhD students were invited. It featured a panel of Vice-Chancellors as speakers:

The students of the English Department organized a literary fest entitled “X-cerpts" on 10th and 11th January 2020 that hosted a range of events and had students from various colleges and universities participating in them. One of the features of the two day program was a panel discussion on “Changes in the Portrayal of Crime and Criminality in Different Spheres of Literature". The panelists included crime fiction novelist Mr. Ankush Saikia, art director and actor Mr. Vikas Tody, Professor Emerita of Loreto College, Dr. Aditi Dasgupta and Gender studies scholar and Professor of English at University of Kalyani, Dr.Niladri Chatterjee.
