SXUK : Radical Prayer

Radical Prayer - 30 April 2020

"Education cannot be neutral. It is either positive or negative; either it enriches or it impoverishes; either it enables a person to grow or it lessens. The mission of schools / Colleges / Universities is to develop a sense of truth, of what is good and beautiful. And this occurs through a rich path made up of many ingredients. This is why there are so many subjects - because development is the results of different elements that act together and stimulate intelligence, knowledge, the emotions, the body, and so on."

"If something is true, it is good and beautiful; if it is beautiful; it is good and true; if it is good, it is true and it is beautiful. And together, these elements enable us to grow and help us to love life, even when we are not well, even in the midst of many problems. True education enables us to love life and opens us to the fullness of life."
- Pope Francis

Radical Prayer - 31 Aug 2019

"The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence".
"Everything comes to us that belongs to us if we create the capacity to receive it".
"The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough".
"You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water".
- Rabindranath Tagore

Radical Prayer - 04 Jul 2019

Stay Away From Anger. It Hurts only You!
If You Are Right, Then There is No Need to Get Angry.
And If You Are Wrong Then You Don't Have Any Right to Get Angry.

Patience with Family is Love.
Patience with Others is Respect.
Patience with self is confidence.
Patience with GOD is Faith.

Every test in your life makes you better or bitter.
Every problem comes to make you or break you!
The choice is yours whether you become victorious or victims.

Beautiful things are not always good.
But Good things are always beautiful.

Do you know why God created gaps between fingers?
So that someone, who is special to you, comes
And fills those gaps by holding your hand forever.

"Happiness" keeps you sweet.
But being sweet brings happiness.

Radical Prayer

Education is the most powerful mechanism with which you can transform the world. The sustained holistic development of any country is directly determined by its education system. Education is a Nation's health and wealth. A progressive nation is inevitably an educated nation.
Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. And so, investment in education pays the best interest. The aim is to form quality leaders, local and global, with strong human and spiritual values.
Saint Xavier's University, Kolkata aims to form "men and women for others" who will be agents of needed social change in their country. The Jesuit dictum is "Give us your child and we will return you a man/woman, a citizen of the country and a child of God."

Radical Prayer

Easter
Since Christ is resurrected, we can look with new eyes and a new heart at every event of our lives, even the most negative ones. His resurrection is not a fantasy
It is the mystery of the thrown-away stone that ends up being the cornerstone of our existence. In this throwaway culture, where that which is not useful is discarded, that stone that was discarded is the fountain of life.
And even "us, little pebbles," who've been thrown in an earth full of suffering, tragedy, with faith in the risen Christ, "have a reason for being amidst so many calamities. A sense to look beyond: There is not a wall, but a horizon. There's life and joy. - Pope Francis

Radical Prayer

BHAKTI
When BHAKTI enters FOOD
FOOD becomes PRASAD,

When BHAKTI enters HUNGER,
HUNGER becomes a FAST,
When BHAKTI enters WATER,
WATER becomes HOLY,
When BHAKTI enters TRAVEL,
TRAVEL becomes a PILGRIMAGE,
When BHAKTI enters MUSIC,
MUSIC becomes KIRTAN,
When BHAKTI enters a HOUSE,
HOUSE becomes a TEMPLE,
When BHAKTI enters ACTIONS,
ACTIONS become SERVICES,
When BHAKTI enters in WORK,
WORK becomes KARMA,
AND
When BHAKTI enters a MAN,
MAN becomes DIVINE

Radical Prayer

"You have to grow from the inside out,
No one can teach you,
No one can make you spiritual,
There is no other teacher
But your own soul.
Talk to yourself once in a day...
Otherwise you may miss
Meeting an Excellent person"
- Swami Vivekananda

Radical Prayer

"I travel, work, suffer weak health, meet with a thousand difficulties, but all these are nothing, for this world is so small. To me, space is an imperceptible object, as I am accustomed to dwell in eternity." - St. Francis Xavier

Radical Prayer

"Education cannot be neutral. It is either positive or negative; either it enriches or it impoverishes; either it enables a person to grow or it lessens, even corrupts him. The mission of schools, colleges and universities is to develop a sense of truth, of what is good and beautiful. And this occurs through a rich path made up of many ingredients. This is why there are so many subjects - because development is the results of different elements that act together and stimulate intelligence, knowledge, emotions, the body, and so on."
- Pope Francis

Radical Prayer

Yesterday is gone.
Tomorrow has not yet come.
We have only today.
Not all of us can do great things.
But we can do small things with great love.
Love does not measure, it just gives.
If you canít feed a hundred people,
Then feed just one.
What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.
- Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Radical Prayer

"Give us your son or daughter and we will return you a
man or a woman, a citizen of our country and a child of
God." - A Jesuit dictum

"All the things in this world are gifts of God, created
for us, to be the means by which we can come to know Him
better, love Him more surely, and serve Him and humanity
more faithfully." - St. Ignatius of Loyola

Radical Prayer

"Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding and my entire will - all that I have and possess. You, Lord, have given all that to me. I now give it all back to you. Dispose of it according to your will. Give me your love and grace, that is enough for me."
- Ignatius of Loyola

Radical Prayer

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify God."
Jesus Christ (Mathew 5:13-16)

Radical Prayer

I have become my own version of an optimist.
If I can't make it through one door,
I'll go through another door.
Or I'll make a door.
Something terrific will come,
No matter how dark the present.
- Rabindranath Tagore

Radical Prayer

Swami Vivekananda Mother Teresa

Take up one idea,
Make that one idea your life,
Think of it, dream of it,
Live on that idea.
Let the brain, muscles, nerves,
And every part of your body,
Be full of that idea,
And just leave every other idea alone.
This is the way to success.
- Swami Vivekananda

Radical Prayer

Mother Teresa Mother Teresa

The fruit of Silence is prayer.
The fruit of Prayer is faith.
The fruit of Faith is love.
The fruit of Love is service.
The fruit of Service is peace.
- Mother Teresa

I have come to Thee to take Thy touch

Before I begin, my day.

Let Thy eyes rest upon my eyes, for a while.
Let me take to my work the assurance

Of Thy comradeship my friend

Fill my mind with Thy music

To last through the desert of noise.
Let Thy love's sunshine kiss the peaks of my
thoughts
And linger
in my hearts valley, Where the harvest ripens

I have come to Thee to take Thy touch
before I
 begin, my day.
- Rabindranath Tagore

He comes, comes, ever comes

HAVE YOU NOT heard his silent steps?
He comes, comes, ever comes.
Every moment and every age,
every day and every night
he comes, comes, ever comes.
Many a song have I sung in many a mood of mind,
but all their notes have always proclaimed,
'He comes, comes, ever comes.'
In the fragrant days of sunny April
through the forest path
he comes, comes, ever comes.
In the rainy gloom of July nights
on the thundering chariot of clouds
he comes, comes, ever comes.
In sorrow after sorrow
it is his steps that press upon my heart,
and it is the golden touch of his feet
that makes my joy to shine.
- Rabindranath Tagore (Gitanjali: 45)

Radical Prayer

"Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace"
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred
let me bring your Love.
Where there is injury,
your pardon, Lord
And where there's doubt,
true faith in You.

Oh, Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there's despair in life,
let me bring Hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there's sadness, ever joy.

- St. Francis of Assisi
